Execration and T1 esports face each other in the group stage of the SEA Dota Invitational. The SEA Dota Invitational is an eight-team online Dota 2 tournament. With a $8,000 prize pool, the tournament is not the biggest one in SEA Dota. But with several Dota 2 Majors and minors canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, this is one of the few events for South-East Asian Dota 2 teams.
There are six invited teams and the remaining two teams have qualified via the Vietnam qualifier. The group stage is a single-stage round robin format. The top four teams advance to the playoffs, while the bottom four teams are eliminated from the tournament.
T1 is at top of the leaderboards with four wins and one loss. Their only loss came against Team Impunity (currently 3-0). T1’s Dota 2 roster is relatively new. The organization’s entry in Dota 2 has not been explosive and they are slowly climbing their way to the top of the scene. There are a few well-known names in the roster such as Galvin "Meracle" Kang Jian Wen and Lee "Forev" Sang-don. This tournament is their first event and their performance so far has been impressive.
Execration is a popular name amongst SEA Dota 2 fans. While the team’s name is popular, the players on the roster are not well-known names in the International scene. They can be very inconsistent and hard to trust sometimes.
