Jack Sears transfers to Boise State

Jack Sears, the former quarterback from Southern Cal, will transfer to Boise State and will be eligible immediately. The junior graduated in the spring from USC and was considered a grad transfer so he didn't have to sit out a season.

Sears didn't play very often. In fact, he played in just one game in three seasons with the Trojans. But he was very successful in that one performance. Sears started for an injured JT Daniels against Arizona State in 2018, completing 20 of 28 for 235 yards with two TDs and no picks in a 38-35 defeat.

USC went through three quarters in 2019 and Sears was not of them, so the writing was on the wall. Sears as a four-star prospect coming out Clement High School in 2017. According to 247Sports, he was the eighth-ranked quarterback transfer in 2020.

Sears won't be given the job at Boise State. He'll compete against Hank Bachmeier, who threw for 1,879 yards with nine touchdowns and six picks as a true freshman in 2019, but injuries hampered his play. He struggled in a Las Vegas Bowl loss to Washington, completing 15 of 26 passes for 119 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions.
